Description

I generally image with two Rigs at a time.  One wide field and the other a more narrow FOV.    This night I was imaging with a RASA 8 on one Kit and the Edge SCT 8 inch with 2x Tele Vue and ASI224MC camera on the other   Of course the later was to capture AVI files of Saturn.   On a whim and before I begin imaging the RASA on LDN1235 I put the scope on Saturn and took a wide field view of Saturn and its starfield ....just 10,  10 second images.   I then tried to use a little math to rez up the image to reflect the scale of Saturn in the finished image.  Then I used Photoshop to blend the star field into the image.  I do know that the rotation of Saturn relative to the star field is off but.......the fun was in the trying!   ...and playing with my backyard toys!

For Saturn - I took 10 AVIs each 3000 frames (30,000 total) ....I used Castrator to crop/align videos, then Autostakkert to stack into tiff files.  I kept 15 percent of the frames in Autostakkert.   In Registax I applied wavelets, Auto Color and Gamma (curves).   From there I used Winjupos to De Rotate the 10 files into one Image.   That image was then taken into photoshop for further processing and compositing.

Considering the poor "seeing" conditions and wind, "lucky imaging" was the ONLY reason that there is a usable Saturn.

...and as my hero Bugs Funny would say, "That's All Folks"!
