Description

Well known planetary nebula in Lyra. The core is bright at magnitude 8.6 but the layered halo, particularly the outermost layer is exceptionally faint.

Imaging Camera: QSI640wsg

Imaging Scope: Celestron 9.25"Edge HD at f/7

Guide Camera: SX Lodestarx2

Mount: Avalon M-Uno Fast Reverse

Filters: Astrodon Gen II LRGB

Exposure: 10 hours 5nm Ha, 1 minute subs for the core, and 30 minute binx2 subs for the halo. 3 hours luminance (binx1) and 1 hour each RGB (binx2) 1 minute subs.

Processing: CCD Stack and PS CC

Sky conditions: Below average seeing, bortle white skies, SQM 17.8 mag/arc-sec2

Description: Apparently the faint outer rings sit on an almost imperceptibly faint glow of ionized oxygen. This is after another six hours of long (30 min binx2) subs. Full image is here:
