Description

A faint reflection nebula in the constellation of Scorpius..Sharpless 1 (SH2-1) is a very faint reflection nebula. It is a reflection nebula because it does not emit any light of its own but reflects light from the nearby stars. The magnitude 2.9 Pi Scorpii (which is infact a triple star. Two of the triple stars are hot B type main sequence stars giving the bluish white colour. The distance is approximately 590 light years. The second blue star is 4 Scorpii, is also a bluish white star with a magnitude of 5.5 and distance of approximately 408 light years. Wikipedia says the nebula lies 650 light years from earth.Not an easy target from Bortle 6 skies but I think quite beautiful.6.2 hours total integration from 93 x 240sec RGB light frames.Astroworx 250mm F4 Truss Newtonian, QHY268M CMOS camera (Ext full Well G=35 O=36), Optolong RGB filters, TS Wynne 3” coma corrector, CEM60EC mount. Captured with Voyager and Processed with Pixinsight.
