Description

Here's my take on the recent comet C/2022 E3 ZTF.

The first image for me after more than four months. There was a lot to do, we finally moved to a new home we were busy building for 1.5 years and there was probably the worst streak of bad weather I experienced since doing AP. The few clear nights mostly had a bright moon or I was just too tired from all the non AP stuff. I desperately tried to image NGC 1333, the Embryo Nebula, and captured >20 hrs of data but with a bright moon. Totally worthless. This kind of frustrated me and I got a bit of astro fatigue...but didn't really matter since there were no opportunities to image due to the bad weather.

Anyway, I tried to get some data on C/2022 E3 ZTF before it's completely out of sight and although the moon was almost full (of course). This has been the first time I imaged a comet with my scope. In terms of processing I didn't use all the nice tools like SXT etc. but made a quick and dirty stack in DSS and then went to StarTools. It looks of course different compared too all the detailed comet images with pin point stars but it's more dynamic therefore :-) Exposure time was a bit too long or the comet a bit too fast...so the stars are rather pearls on a string than a streak. But why not?

Clear skies - especially to all of you who didn't see a star for months!
