Description

NGC 6979 is a patch of nebulosity that forms part of the Veil Nebula complex.  It sits in the northern part of the complex between the area known as Pickering's Triangle and the tail of the Eastern Veil.  The Veil Nebula is located some 1,500 light years distant in the constellation of Cygnus.

NGC 6979 was photographed between 19 July and 1 August 2022.  Capture details are as follows:

Mount: 10 Micron GM2000HPS

Ha: 27 x 1200s
OIII: 27 x 1200s
SII: 27 x 1200s
Red: 40 x 300s
Green: 40 x 300s

A total of 36 hours and 55 minutes exposure.
