Wide-angle views to the the planets visible in middle of totality of the solar eclipse of Apr 8, 2024 [1, 2] as observed from the vicinity of Goldthwaite, TX (local elevation +460m). The image is an HDR merge of 3 exposures 1/13s, 1/5s, 1/2s (f/1.4, ISO125, F=4.7mm (24mm in 35mm equivalent)),
Left top corner to right bottom corner, the following planets are visible here:
- Jupiter (-2.0m, 5.85au away)
- Venus (-3.9m, 96.7% disc illumination, 1.65au away)
- Saturn (+1.1m, 10.5au away)
- Mars (+1.1m, 2.1au away)
No luck with detecting Mercury (+4.3m), comet 12P/Pons–Brooks or bright stars with this setup under given conditions. Some details in the solar corona are also visible here.
