Description

NGC 3953 (PGC 37306, UGC 6870) is a barred spiral galaxy located in the constellation Ursa Major at a distance of 56 million light years. The tightly wound spiral structure spans about 111,000 light years. NGC 3953 belongs to the Ursa Major North galaxy group, which consists of 32 galaxies, including the dominant M109 (NGC 3992).
