Description

A few months ago I found a series of astronomical images so beautiful that they left me literally speechless. Those were Mike Selby's images, obtained with a CDK1000 from El Sauce Observatory. This is an altazimuthal telescope and it is well know that for some aspects altazimuthal instruments present some problems in post-processing. My instrument is also altazimuthal, although it is not comparable in quality and diameter, it presents the same difficulties. I then asked Mike for some advice to solve certain problems and what happened was that, not only I had all the answers to my questions, but I received fundamental advice and teachings on astrophotography processing in general. I also had the privilege of receiving many Raws to put into practice the techniques I have learned. I have had the great pleasure of processing in the best possible way for my knowledge and skills those data, trying to show my interpretation of those subject. I begin to present the one that most impressed me for the amount of details that I tried to show with no little difficulty, and others of magnificent subjects will follow. I thought it was easy to process perfect data, but it is very complex because the risk of making them worse is high and because it would be a shame not to pull out all the information they contain.
The subject of this image is obviously a detail of the Eagle Nebula (M16 or NGC6611 in the Serpent constellation).
This is a Ha-OIII-SII narrow band tri-color image processed in Hubble Palette.
Data obtained and calibrated by Mike Selby with the Planewave CDK1000 from the El Sauce Observatory, which I had the privilege of processing.
