Description

Man there are just so many cool different galaxies groups out there. I originally saw this target from a telescopius email of targets, then I saw someone else Astrobin image and decided it must be a sign that I need to try to capture this target.  I would like to get more data, but may not have clear skies again for a while.

According to a Sky and Telescope website: Canadian astronomer Paul Hickson identified around 100 compact groups of galaxies, called Hickson Compact Groups. This is Hickson 44 and group of four galaxies about 100 million light-years away in the constellation Leo. The two spiral galaxies in the center of the image are edge-on NGC 3190 with its distinctive, warped dust lanes, and S-shaped NGC 3187.  Along with the bright elliptical, NGC 3193, they are also known as Arp 316. The spiral in the corner is NGC 3185, the 4th member of the Hickson group. Like other galaxies in Hickson groups, these show signs of distortion and enhanced star formation, due to gravitational pull toward each other, that will eventually result in massive galaxy mergers. The merger process is now understood to be a normal part of the evolution of galaxies, including our own Milky Way.

Title: Revision

Description: Did some un-stretching on this image to clean the background up. Lost a little detail, but just didn't like the look of the original image due to the hazy background.

Title: PI Revision

Description: Here is pretty much my first PI processed image from a raw fits file stacked in APP, with a little touch up in PS. I am still getting that haze in the center of my image which is really frustrating as that haze does not show up in the PS image.
