Description

The California Nebula is, in a word: HUGE!  Even shooting it with an 80 mm aperture telescope reduced to 447 mm focal length, it would require a mosaic of 2 to 3 segments to complete it.  I decided, instead, to focus on bringing the most out of one section of it.  This image was shot from Bortle 1.5 skies late in summer of 2023, representing about 8 hours of integration on a moonless night.
