Description

When I woke up at 3am on the bluff, I knew the moon was still bright and the city lights were glowing on the southern horizon, so I was not expecting to see the Milky Way. I took a 20-second exposure anyway and couldn't believe what I saw. I processed this a few times before realizing it just wants to be pink, so I let it be. The image is taken from Otter Rock, Oregon looking south towards the city of Newport. You can see the distinctive rock named Gull Rock to the right of the photo, and just past Gull Rock is the Yaquina Head Lighthouse. The point of light is the lighthouse beacon, the streak of light is a boat. Finally, the bright yellow light comes from the Otter Crest Lookout atop Cape Foulweather.
