Description

Blue Horsehead Nebula (IC 4592 )

This dusty reflection nebula in blue looks like the head of a horse is located in the constellation Scorpius 400 light-years away from us.

The star which is the eye of the horse named Jabbah (Nu Scorpii) is a double star and the star where the horse is gazing at is Graffias (Beta Scorpii) a variable double star.

Both shine blue white and has a visual luminosity of 1180 Suns (Graffias) and Jabbah 399 Suns.

Blue Horsehead Nebula (IC 4592 ) occupies a much larger region than the other Horsehead Nebula (Barnard 33) in the constellation Orion.
