Description

Small barred spiral galaxy, obscured by intervening Milky Way dust. Color camera and IR cut filter. The galaxy is reddened by dust, and the camera didn't pick up much color variation. This image resolves a ring of bright star clusters around the central core (if you zoom in), very cool. Accumulated images over four nights. Really just experimenting to see how much the extended integration time would bring out the fainter ends of the arms. Didn't crop the image to show the surrounding nebulosity.

Half way through this project I acquired a ZWO EAF auto-focus module. It's mounted with a Buckeye Stargazer 3-D printed bracket, not the ZWO aluminum bracket. So, anyway, half of the exposures are manually focused, and half are auto-focused.

The above acquisition details include every exposure. The final image used
240 (of 280) frames x 300s @ Gain 200 @ -10C = 20h 0m exposure time
