Description

Although this galaxy has rarely, if ever, been a featured object on Astrobin, it has appeared before in the background of a number of images of the Sh2-73 molecular cloud, as seen in my image here:

Sh2-73

NGC 6060 is a small spiral galaxy located 170 million light years away in the constellation of Hercules at a declination of +21 degrees.  It is a magnitude 13.1 galaxy which spans 2.5 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a Milky Way like diameter of 130,000 light years.  From our view perspective, the disk is inclined about 25 degrees from edge-on.

The galaxy has a bright core and a strong arm structure, with hints of VV rows.
