Description

I love the detail of narrowband imaging!

I don't love deciding color palettes and blending methods!

In this image, I have uploaded both my custom HOS palette, as well as SHO palette.    I chose HOS because it provides a unique look into the Sulfur structure of this area that can easily get overlooked with SHO.  These areas that particularly pop are to the right of the Bubble nebula, 3 or so filamentary structures jutting out towards the right.   There is also similar structure near the top of the base of Lobster Claw.     When you roll over the image, you will see the SHO revision mutes those structures.   Unfortunately as a byproduct of this blend, the Ha and Oiii structure do not blend as well.    You can notice this when you glance at the depth of the Oiii and Ha in the claw in SHO.    This depth is not nearly as significant in the HOS version.

The moral of the story is different palettes provide unique looks on the same data.  I had an incredibly hard time deciding how I wanted to present this dataset, so I leave you with BOTH versions.    The differences in structure really stand out thanks to the rollover feature.

Let me know which one you enjoy more!  SHO narrowband, while simple, is my weakness when it comes to astro.
