Description

NGC 6888 was the first serious target for my new Celestron Edge HD 800.  Handling a focal lenght of 1400mm (reduced) is - surprise, surprise - quite challenging…I invested a couple of nights in this stunning little DSO, though of course a diameter of some 27 lightyears should not really considered small. But hey, on my 200mm Nikkor NGC 6888 was not much more than a red dot.Why they call it „Crescent“ nebula I do not know. Brain nebula would fit much better. Or Walnut nebula. This emission nebula is really fascinating in its shape and colour. I like the blue OIII-skin, that kind of floats around the red core. Unfortunately in my picture it is not really red. It is rather purple oder pink or both. I made several attempts to achieve a nicer red, but I failed. So I called it a day and decided to like it. Maybe I do a revision once I have more experience in PixInsight. At least it was a very good idea to gather some RGB-footage for true-colored stars. So yes, in the end  I am quite happy with the result.
