Description

IC 447, also known as Dreyer's Nebula is situated in het Monoceros R1 complex. At 2480 ly distance, it is situated at the outer edge of the Orion arm of out galaxy.
The blue glow of IC 447 is due to the light scattering of several massive B-type stars.
At the opposite end of the dark filament, we find IC 446, which has a massive young stellar object embedded within. 
The area contains several  star-forming sites at the edge of a dense molecular cloud.
