Description

I am blown away by this image, and I hope you like it. Being a bit lazy and making all kinds of excuses, I image mainly from my backyard observatory in Houston - Bortle 9. I decided to branch out a little, and took this image from Brazos Bend State Park which at just 40 miles from where I live has a beautiful Bortle 5 sky. The George Observatory is in this park. I used a decent portable setup with the Rainbowastro, a WO Spacecat 51 (grey version of the famous redcat), and the ASIAIR and ZWO family of cameras. This is the result of 2 hours under a fairly decent moon, just using an IR/UV cut filter. I cannot achieve this from my home backyard observatory. No way! I would have to take at least 3x as much subs and the results would not compare. Humidity was about 97%, and even though the night started quite clear, the sky got muggier just around 11 pm. Still, I think the results are decent. Please critique and enjoy.
