Description

Took me a couple of nights to figure out how to process this, previous experience with the Horsehead Nebula complex came in really handy.  Once Ha, Lum, RGB and Stars went through my PI processing sequence I ended up blending these 4 layers in Photoshop.  The image required very fine adjustments and the immediate feedback given in Photoshop made that task manageable.

There's often debate PI vs. Photoshop but for me there's no debate: both are quite amazing and complement each other.

I originally had the traditional bluish hue of the reflective nebula, but in processing the vanilla color just won me over, so I picked that version as final.  While Gamma Cas certainly does produce blue reflectivity, the fantastical mood of the picture allows, in my opinion, that sort of departure from realism.
