Description

Heart Nebula (IC 1805) - Stellarvue 130mm @ f/5 - 2600MC - Antlia Triband RGB Ultra Filter - 7.75 hours  Robert Moses State Park Long Island 11/16/23

2600MC -  Gain = 100  -  Exposure = 300" With Antlia Triband RGB Ultra Filter. Guiding aroun .5 all night... Rarely went above .7 arc/sec

This was another difficult process to get the color contrast between the Ha and OIII in photoshop. PS is horrible for this... I spend most of the countless hours processing trying to get the other wavelengths besided the Ha to stand out. As with the Soul image I could barely squeeze this nebula onto my 2600MC chip at 670mm. Almost no cropping here.

Thoughts from this night:
This was by far the wettest night I've ever experienced imaging. The dew factor was off the charts. I had to add a second dew strap on the fly and even that was barely enough. The ground and roads were soaking wet all night as if it had rained. I've never seen anything even come close in terms of dewing. Even with 2 straps insulated with microfiber cloth and taped with duct tape to seal in the heat I used a small hair dryer every hour or so to make sure I got every last bit of dew... I really didn't have any dew on the lens, I just used the dryer to be sure. Usually if dew is an issue my stars will halo. It took everything I had to keep the lens dry. Luckily it was enough with all my countermeasures not to ruin this image

The triband performed well as with the soul. I will post 3 additional images and give my final thoughts. I thought I had given my thoughts and then I wound up going out imaging 4x in a week. I never expected that.

I must say I'm getting very frustrated trying to get the OIII and other wavelengths to stand out in PS. This one took around 15 hours to process... I'm hoping I can figure out a better way this winter.

Please tell me any thoughts or improvements I can make if you have a moment. It's appreciated.
C&C welcome
