Description

The North America Nebula; also designated as NGC 7000, Caldwell 20, and Sharpless 117; is found in the constellation of Cygnus (the Swan).
This emission nebula in Cygnus lies at an estimated distance of 2590 light years from Earth and covers an area more than 10 times that of the full moon spanning a physical distance of about 90 light years from top to bottom.
The Pelican Nebula lies at a distance of approximately 1800 light years and is also designated IC 5070and IC 5057.
