Description

This is my first test field for the Astrobin Community Survey. [see extensive AB Forum discussion over the past two weeks  [url]https://www.astrobin.com/forum/c/astrophotography/other/the-astrobin-all-sky-survey-a-proposal-for-a-community-resource/ and survey announcement here: https://www.astrobin.com/forum/c/astrophotography/other/the-astrobin-community-abc-all-sky-survey-announcement/

Chosen because it was on the meridian during the first hour the night, and living at latitude -45, I guess I am better positioned than many to take images of the "Deepish South".  It turns out to have the Dark Doodad, which was a nice surprise.

The field was taken in the first hour of the past two nights, before the moon rose and the fog rolled in.   Following the pipeline was straightforward, and the depth reached was consistent with my calculations given the lower transparency in some frames.

Beyond the pipeline processing for the survey, Image A was calibrated  with SPCC and stretched with PI's standard STF curve.  No deconvolution of noise suppression  was applied.

Version B has a little more stretch (with arcsinh stretch) and star reduction using HT with the StarXterminator starmask.

In future, I will start posted these images to the ABC_Survey account, but since no-one in following that at the moment [it is still only a free account - I want to see whether the survey actually has any take up before I buy a subscription]., I thought it be a good advert for the survey if I posted it here.  Comment on this particlurly welcome.

One day, I hope AB will have the whole sky covered like this [actually slightly better I hope].
