Description

The California Nebula (NGC1499) is only about 1,000 light-years away, located in the Orion Arm of the Milky Way. It is an emission nebula around 100 light-year long, whose glow is due to the ionized hydrogen and it got its name from its resemblance to the California State in the US.

The image was processed in SHO (fusing two SHO images together with a slight different post-processing).

The processing used 85% of the total images.
