Description

The Bernes catalog is an obscure catalog of 160 "...bright nebulosities seen in or at the edges of well-defined dark clouds with an opacity class, as defined by Lynds (1962), of at least 4."  Many of these overlap with reflection nebulae already captured elsewhere: 41 are from the vdB catalog, 8 are in the vdBH catalog, 40 are NGC/IC objects, and 63 are in the DG (Dorschner and Gurtler) catalog. About 50 are unique to this catalog, and Bernes 149 is one of them.

The molecular cloud it sits within is known as Lupus 3.

This image is a collaboration with Charles Pevsner, who captured the data.
