Description

This is a "first-time image" regarding two aspects:

The first (and most important) is using my new Optolong L-Ultimate filter. I own the L-Extreme, which gives 7 nm bandwidth for Ha and O3. The L-Ultimate is just 3 nm and is great for light pollution and the moon (at least somewhat). Unfortunately, my location worsened from around Bortle 4 to a clearly Bortle 5 on its way to Bortle 6 (thank you to the biggest local company, which decided to change all of their lights to LED to save energy instead of just dimming them -.-).

The second is the use of the "XTerminator suite" (BlurXTerminator, NoiseXTerminator and StarXTerminator). These PixInSight plugins are an amazing time saver and give great results "out of the box".

In general, I am happy with the details in the nebulosity because this object doesn't even reach 45° altitude at its peak at my location and the biggest light pollution "bell" is in the southern direction. As you can see, the stars are egg-shaped and not what I would consider "good". But that doesn't matter too much in this case since I am waiting for a clear night (with not too much moonlight) to get some time on that target for RGB stars, which I will place instead of those blueish narrowband stars.

I am also still working on my personal "standard" for dual-narrowband colouring of the resulting HOO images. Maybe a bit redder in the darker/orange parts of the nebulosity? I will see ;).
