Description

The Cocoon nebula is an interesting combination of emission reflection and dark nebulae. It is a stellar nursery powered by the compact cluster IC 5146. It is 4000 LY distant in Cygnus.

This is a mixed focal length image combining color and Ha data shot a few years ago with a short focal length refractor (FSQ 85) with recent luminance data shot with the SCT (9.25' Edge).
