Description

Here we have an image of NGC188. This open cluster is quite close to the North celestial pole and is in Cepheus.

This is thought to be a very old open cluster (6.8 billion years) and unusual in that the members of it have not drifted apart as is usually the case. It lies approximately 5,000 light years away.

I was trying to do this image during the worst of the monsoon and had to toss a very large number of frames. But I think I was able, over the course of these days, to acquire enough data to nicely show the cluster and some if the surrounding galactic cirrus that are common in this part of the sky.

I hope you like it and clear skies!!
