Description

Having had some success with longer exposures in my first Adventure, I turned my attention to a target that I've tried and failed to image in the past. NGC 6888 the crescent nebula is magnificent, whether in the many wide field or longer focal length images that we have been enjoying on Astrobin over the summer. It is a target that benefits from narrowband data to differentiate the blue OIII from the rich red Halpha.  The most spectacular images have long exposures and integrations.

Try as I may, I couldn't get past 120s exposures, with my Star Adventurer mount, without excessive star trailing - I suspect I didn't recheck balance, polar alignment or re-calibrate my auto-guide setup. Data were captured using ATP, and pre-processed in Nebulosity v4. Revision A is processed in Startools v1.8, with standard workflow and star repair, and Revision B (mouseover) in Nebulosity v4 using simple levels, curves, star tightening and noise reduction - a cleaner image, and I think better detail, and differentiation, perhaps even a hint of OIII.

I quite like this field of view, and once I get rid of the tracking gremlins, I'm confident I could do this justice, hopefully showing off the thin layers of OIII which blanket this nebulosity, and perhaps even getting a glimpse of the elusive soap bubble. Dark skies, long integration and weather permitting.
