Description

LATTE (Lulin-ASIAA Telescope for Transients and Education) is a project that I initiated using the resource from Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics of Academia Sinica (ASIAA). It's a small research and educational telescope, located at an astronomical site called Lulin Observatory, at a high mountain (el=2862m) in central Taiwan. The telescope is PlaneWave CDK20. Its first generation camera is Apogee F16M (Kodak 16803 CCD), and later upgraded to Moravian C5A-100M (Sony IMX461 CMOS). LATTE saw its first light in mid 2022. It is used on small research projects and college student training, as well as taking pretty pictures for public outreach. Many of the pictures taken by LATTE were uploaded to Astrobin by myself, and by a small number of other users.

From this year, we will publicly release the raw data taken by LATTE. The data to be released are those owned by ASIAA and are more than a year old. The release date will be the early months (Jan or Feb) of each year. For example, since now it is early 2024, we release all data taken in 2022 (with the 16803 CCD), which is the first year of LATTE's operation. You can use the data for your own data processing practice, and you can share your results on the internet. (There are some reasonable restrictions, of course.)

The data release site is temporarily here, via Dropbox. We are testing Dropbox's data sharing service, so our Dropbox account is a trial one. Because of this, there is a daily limit of 100,000 downloads. So please do not try to download everything at once, to prevent hitting the 100,000 limit. Please read the readme file first, to understand the usage terms and some key characteristics of the data. Then please check the observing logs to identify the files you want and to just download those files. If we are satisfied with Dropbox's service (except for the 100,000 daily limit), we will purchase an official account. Then the download limit will be removed and you will be able to download the files however you want (I hope). For now, please limit your downloads to the files that you immediately need, and provide us feedbacks on how you like the way Dropbox works. This will help us to evaluate whether we will continue with Dropbox.

BTW, since several years ago, I started to release all my astrophotography raw files from my portable imaging. If you like to use those files, please check here.
