Description

The cacoon Nebulae, designation IC5146, is a reflection/emission nebula residing in the constellation Cygnus, within th Milky Way, 4000 light-years from earth. It is a stellar nursery (star forming) region that is 15 light-years accross. Keep in mind 1 light-year is 5.88 TRILLION miles. The central star is a mere 100,000 years old. This was imaged at my Observatory, MARIETH, in Central Oregon on 06/24/2004.
