Description

There is a lot going on in the Lion Nebula, Sh2-132, including what appears to be a strong OIII signal in the lower right.  I often have trouble pulling out strong OIII with my rig, but this time it was easy.  There are dark and bright veins of nebulosity, and what appear to be several curved shock waves.

Sh2-132 is believed to be about 10,000 light years away, in the Perseus arm of the Milky Way.

I produced the false color in this image using Bill Blanshan and Mike Cranfield's new Narrowband Normalization process, available here for PixInsight 1.8.9-2.  It's far easier to adjust than Bill's excellent Pixelmath scripts.
