Description

Early this month, in the need of a new target and our Discord group's monthly challenge asking for Reflection Nebulae, the "Seven Sisters" (or maybe just 6, depending which Mythology you read up) were in a strategically good position. I captured the Pleiades last year with my old Newt and a DSLR camera and I was of course curious what I could get out of all the subs collected. One thing that definitely has changed in my acquisition approach is time. I now take the time!!!
Subs were shot at different exposure times with Optolong L Pro filter and combined with PixInsight's HDRComposite. Not necessarily to make later use of HDR Multiscale Transform (at least not for this image, as I have not found a good way to make us of it - I'm a Newbie) but to be able to combine them in first place. There might be other ways to do this, that I don't know yet.

The Pleiades are part of a group of stars, visible during winter time with naked eye even in heavier light polluted skies. They have been of interest throughout human history and mentioned in many ancient cultures around the world. The name Pleiades derives from Greek Mythology and the 9 brightest stars are named after the 7 sisters and their parents. The main group is located approximately 444 LY from Earth with an apparent  dimension of close to 2°. The cluster is dominated by hot blue stars and the visible dust, the reflection nebula is of unrelated interstellar medium the cluster is currently traveling through. The entire group is estimated to contain more then thousand stars.
