Description

This image captures several faint molecular cloud structures located about 1000 light years away in the constellation of Cassiopeia at a declination of +75 degrees.

As shown in the mouseover, LDN 1333 is the darkest region of the image in the upper right quadrant, looking like a black oval button.  This dark nebula has the darkest opacity rating of 6.  It is only about 1.5 light years long.

Immediately to the right of LDN 1333 is LBN 634, which is also indicated in the mouseover.  I enjoy seeing dark nebulae adjacent to light nebulae.

Several background galaxies can be seen, with the largest being UGC 2358 at the left edge of the image.  This Milky Way size galaxy is 115,000 light years in diameter and is 180 million light years away.
