Description

One of the hidden treasures located in the outer edge of the Orion Arm of our Milky Way some 3300 light years away. This little gem is often passed over for more popular imaging targets in the area. It is named for the father-son team of astronomers who discovered it in 1939 and simply cataloged as an HII region. Not much is documented about it other than it is a faint emission nebula energized by yet another runaway star. There appears to be a fairly large shock wave or multiple bubbles in the center. Any comments on what this is would be appreciated. I can't find much information at all about this structure.

Imaged during my recent dark sky trip to Southern Utah. I processed this one in a much different way to enhance the deeper red tones and yellows in this nebula. This does tend to subdue the blue in the center but I was happy the bubble still shows clearly. My original SHO processing is included as a revision. I welcome any opinions or advice on which one is preferred or improvements to processing.
