(9241) Rosfranklin was named for the crystallographer Rosalind Franklin and as it's also my field I chose it as my first ever asteroid target - more fool me! It was only mag +18.2 so a difficult target in my light polluted southern horizon but passed meridian at a decent time and 52deg altitude no not impossible.
These data were collected using the Orbitals plugin in NINA utlizing the comet tracking in PHD2. As per a comet the data were registered and stacked twice to obtain an image without trailing. (9241) Rosfranklin wasn't moving that quickly so no data were acquired at sidereal rate - the slightly eggy stars were given some attention in post-processing.
At magnitude +18.2 the asteroid was only detectable by eye in three of the 300s subs so the comet stacking in APP relied heavily on the time-stamps in the files.
I was half expecting coming away with nothing to show from the evening so I'm more than happy with the result. Even a touch fainter or lower would probably have been a bust!

Title: Added another stack to get a second static asteroid image, 7693 Hositakuhai

Description: The original processing identified a second asteroid - 7693 Hostitakuhai at mag +17.8 - in the subs but it's motion was very different so a second 'comet-stacking' was needed to get a static image of it. All stacks used the same reference frame so the positions should be correct for that moment in time (2022-05-04 22:00 UT). The two separate asteroid images were combined at the linear stage so their relative brightness should be pretty close to reality

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
