Description

I first saw Herschel's Garnet Star when a friend at a star party called me over to his scope, saying, "you gotta see this!!". Ever since then I've tried to capture the beauty and impact of that first vision of Herschel's ruby red globe nestled in an ocean of stars. This is yet another attempt.

I'm using a modified full frame DSLR camera. So I can't get the exquisite detail I've seen of the elephant trunk taken in mono. But with my wide frame RGB I can capture the brilliance of the star field and nebula in this region in Cepheus. ...yet another attempt that I'll undoubtedly come back to again as my image capture and processing skills develop over time.
