Description

This is one of those targets where I questioned aiming directly at Regulus to image the elliptical galaxy Leo 1. Not deterred by previous efforts to image things sitting right next to bright stars we put the TOA-130 optics to test here. And I think this is probably at the limits as you start to see a breakdown in the natural falloff of the bright stars glow. Maybe the extra glass introduced in the flattener contributes some to the ring type effect seen around Regulus. Additionally there's a flare from the glass that streaks across the entire frame. But it still managed to get some extremely fine detail out of Leo 1. There's even an interesting Ring galaxy if you follow the flare line down to the left.
