Description

Plagued by bad weather during dark skies, but great weather on a full moon, this is M57 (the Ring Nebula) in narrowband, with a HSO pallet. It was also my first foray into HDR Multiscale adjustments.  The more white area is the iconic Ring area, the red inner halo is pretty clear, and you can see a fainter second halo area. The HDR process still allowed the inner area and stars to be visible; before the HDR adjustment this was just an opaque blob.  I was also lucky enough to get enough data that you can just see the barred galaxy IC1296 in the nearby field.

I was both reasonably pleased by the detail in the halo, and disappointed that colors effectively disguise the "ring" so that the nebula is pretty unrecognizable, as we all have seen it for so long and so many times in classic RGB colors.

In this image I made no real attempt to get accurate star colors, just to neutralize the background.  I did try several other pallet colors, never really getting one I liked, this I found to be the least weird.  Sometime with dark skies I may get some RGB and see if I can merge it in (that will get better star colors also).

I welcome any criticism and suggestions.
