Description

Maurolycus is a prominent lunar crater located on the Moon's near side, named after the Italian mathematician and astronomer Francesco Maurolico. It is a relatively large and well-preserved impact crater, with a diameter of approximately 114 kilometers. Maurolycus is characterized by a central peak and a terraced inner wall, as well as a flat floor covered in dark volcanic basaltic material.
