Description

The Helix nebula is one of the most beautiful planetary nebula in the sky, and is frequently imaged.  My favourite images are those which bring out the extended Halpha emission, and so I set out to attempt a deep integration of the field.  Although I have been thwarted by poor weather, I have managed to gather over 20 hours of data on the Helix. Although I will continue to image it during September and October, I thought I would post this image as a "work in progress".  Hope you enjoy.  Comments welcome, not least from those that have attempted a deep image of the Helix before me.  When do I hit the law of diminishing returns.
