Description

The Horsehead Nebula (Barnard 33 and IC434) is some 1375 light years distant and is one of the most recognisable features of the night sky.
The Flame Nebula (NGC 2024 and Sh2-277) is estimated to be between 900 and 1500 light years distant.
Both lie in the constellation of Orion.
I imaged these in December 2022 and January 2023 from by Bortle 5/6 location in Sovereign Harbour near Eastbourne.
61 x 120 sec subs
37 x 300 sec subs
I used the Astrocooker website for the initial processing which also does a great job of removing the stars.
Very happy with this one.
