Description

Recently discovered comet C/2023 P1 Nishimura is projected to get extremely close to the sun next month with a potential to reach naked eye visibility.  However the comet will lay close to the sun during its closest and brightest.

This image was taken prior to the comet's confirmation and it was designated as HN00003 according to the PCCP.  Fairly bright even now its magnitude was projected to be brighter than 10th magnitude.

Image was taken from stacked 20 x 15 seconds (5 minute exposure)using a C14 HyperStar and an asi2600mcP camera.

I've included a negative of the original showing a faint tail like extension towards the 3 o'clock position
