Description

On June 14th, 2023, a tight Jupiter Moon conjunction was visible here in Belgium. Unfortunately, with the Sun rising at 5:28 a.m. it was difficult to photograph, let alone to observe, the appulse, which took place after 6:58 a.m. with Jupiter within 36' from the Moon.

This is an image from the conjunction at 5:52 a.m. (separation less than 1º), pretty much as soon as Jupiter and a small portion of the Moon could fit into the field of view of my setup. To improve the quality of the final image, this is a composite of three images: one for the top half of the Moon, one for the bottom half of the Moon, and one for Jupiter.  All images came from 2-minute long videos (1-minute long video for Jupiter) with the celestial body dead centered in the frame. A single image showing the Moon and Jupiter was used as a guide to place the planet in the proper position with respect to the Moon in the composited image.
