Description

My full image previously posted of M31 was 12h 48 min of light, drizzled 2x, and produced an enormous 556 MB file.  From that data comes this image of NGC 206 and surrounding spiral arms of M31.  Itself an interesting object, NGC 206 spans 4000 light years, and is comprised of about 200,000 solar masses of stars,  <10 million years old, essentially stellar babies.

I had a beloved poster of M31 on my wall as a teenager in the 1980s, and am now mesmerized by its details not visualized in my old poster--a feat I never thought I could accomplish--the blue hot bursting star clouds, the M31-V1 star famously used by Hubble (see my next image), the vibrant colors, the brilliant core, the Halpha regions, the asymmetric dust lanes, the mysteries of M32, etc.  Now I want to shoot this region with my Edge HD8 to see what I can pull out with a longer focal length.
