Description

This photo is a particularly interesting journey: I captured this object in 2012, back when I was still using my small 8cm Equinox. Now I've photographed it again with a 206 EDF Starfire, using my current processing knowledge. So much for 10 years... 🙂 . The image shows a star-forming region rich in hot gas and dark dust in the heart of the constellation Swan (Cygnus), near the star Sadr. This region, about 100 light years across, is part of the Gamma Cygni nebula, about 1800 light years away. A small part of it is the photo itself, a dark, twisted cloud of dust rich in cold molecular gas, catalogue number Barnard 344. For more information, click on the link above.
