IC 1396, from my Bortle 5/6 yard in Pleasant View, UT, over four nights this summer. 15'25" shot with the LExtreme over the first three nights to get good nebula detail, which I then blended with 4'18" of filterless Star-Exterminated stars to retain correct star color. This year's version is much better than my first attempt a year ago, which was with a Hyperstar on an Edge HD 8" which I never quite could get perfectly collimated/tilted, and which was pre-Pixinsight for me and one of the first times I had used NINA. New tools made a big improvement. Progress is one of the great satisfactions of this sometimes-aggravating hobby, and outweighs the fact that many have done this same target much better than I have.

Title: IC1396 with added color data

Description: I had shot two sets of data, one with the LExtreme filter, and another unfiltered which I used for star color. I realized that the Star-Exterminated nebula from the unfiltered data contained yellow-reflection around the Garnet Star, and richer colors in the nebula, that the LExtreme data misses. This revision adds unfiltered color data to the LExtreme filtered data, for a more colorful field. It was a shame to miss the yellow reflection from the enormous Garnet Star in my original, better appreciated here.

Submitted The date and time when you submitted this image for IOTD/TP consideration.	...
Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
