First Light - IC434

So finally after waiting for two years I upgraded to a dedicated astrocam. For the first light, it was a mistake to choose IC434 from my Bortle 8/9 area. To do full justice one has to collect broadband data to show the dust and reflection nebulas surrounding horsehead. However, for one reason or the other I had to abandon it. Initially, it was the smog ridden weather which did not allow single clear night for a month. And now, it is my mount. For reasons which I am still investigating, my mount is unable to guide towards South-South East part of the sky - where currently Orion lies for me. I have opened the entire mount, tightened all screws, made all gear mesh arrangements and yet the guidestar suddenly gets lost on PHD2. However, after that tweaking the tracking of the mount has become exceptionally good except for the South East side of the sky. With the light pollution I think I may need a general purpose LP filter. BUT for now here is the first light.

I had visualised different results than what I am publishing here. The original plan was to take enough OSC data and mix it with Ha-OIII Luminance layer extracted using APP algorithm. So considering everything I have paused data collection on IC434. Hopefully I can return soon.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
