Description

With rain and clouds over the past week, I'm finally catching up on processing some images taken last month. Here's one I took of Comet 67P/ Churyumov-Gerasimenko on December 13th, the "other comet" that put on a nice show over the holiday. Although not as bright as Comet Leonard, it displayed a neat tail and eerie green coma. This was the first comet orbited and then landed upon by a space probe -- the Rosetta spacecraft with its tiny Philae lander in 2014. It was discovered by two Russian astronomers (Churyumov and Gerasimenko) in 1969, and was the 67th periodic comet (67P) discovered. I took this image with my RASA8 telescope using a series of two minute exposures over a period of 20 minutes.
