Description

I framed this so I could fit the fly, spider, M38, and the big "funnel" of Ha gas. This area was harder to process than I thought it'd be ... not much Oxygen signal to be had. I'd started out wanting to do a SHO version, but ended up taking the best parts that SHO, HSS, and RGB version each had to offer and blending them together.

"Situated about 10,000 light-years away from Earth, IC 417 is part of a larger star-forming complex within the Auriga constellation. The nebula gets its name from the intricate network of dark filaments that resembles the legs of a spider.
The Spider Nebula is illuminated by a cluster of young, hot stars embedded within its dusty regions. These stars emit intense ultraviolet radiation, causing the surrounding hydrogen gas to fluoresce and produce the characteristic pinkish glow observed in the nebula.
Astronomers have studied IC 417 to better understand the processes of star formation and the interactions between massive stars and the surrounding interstellar medium. The complex dynamics within the nebula involve the sculpting of the surrounding gas and dust by the energetic radiation and stellar winds from the young stars.
The intricate filaments seen in the Spider Nebula are a result of both the radiation pressure from the stars and the shock waves generated by their powerful stellar winds. Over time, these processes shape the surrounding material, creating the visually striking features observed in IC 417."
