Description

Heckathorn-Fesen-Gull 1 (HFG 1 / PK 136+05) and Abell 6 (PK 136+04.1)

This image combines a little over 30 hours of data from my last attempt, which I've never been very happy with. I wasn't able to use the Ha from that, but the OIII was much stronger. Despite the difference between f/3.9 and f/2.8, I think the ZWO 1600 is just much more sensitive in the OIII wavelength than my QHY183 is. It'd be interesting to test this out with the QHY268 if I ever take that thing out of the box...

I'm very out of practice, so if you have some constructive criticism, I'm all ears. (I'm also missing some tools as my processing computer crashed a few months back.) I really had issues with noise in this one - it didn't start to look halfway presentable until I went much further with NR than I'm generally willing to go.

I think I've told everyone this already, but I've been mostly absent from AP and Astrobin due to a career change coupled with grad school. The latter has been a lot more work than I was expecting (but hey: 27 credits done in my first year!). I've been gathering data with the Sharpstar all year, but I haven't had a second scope out until earlier this week. I do have a backlog of data to process (going all the way back to last summer), so watch this "space"!
